Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Burn Mood Candles collects when you visit burnmood.com or buy from us, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Who we are
Burn Mood Candles is an online candle shop based in Toronto, Ontario. You can reach us about anything in this policy at burnmood@burnmood.com.
What we collect
- When you order: your name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number (optional), the items you buy and any note you add to the order.
- When you create an account: your email address and password (stored only as a one-way hash), your saved addresses and your order history.
- When you pay: card payments are handled by our payment processor. Your full card number goes directly to them; we never see or store it. We receive only the result of the payment, the card type and its last four digits.
- When you browse: the cookies described below, and standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested), which we keep for security and troubleshooting.
- When you write to us: whatever you choose to include in your message.
How we use it
- To process, ship and support your orders, including order and shipping emails.
- To run your account, if you create one.
- To prevent fraud and keep the site secure.
- To meet our legal obligations, such as keeping financial records.
- To send news and offers, only if you have opted in. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
Only with the service providers we need to run the shop, and only what they need:
- Payment processing: to take card payments.
- Shipping carriers: your name, address and phone number, to deliver your parcel.
- Website hosting and email delivery: to run the site and send order emails.
Some of these providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. We also disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies
The shop uses cookies that are needed for it to work: to keep your cart, keep you signed in and protect checkout. We do not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated first and you will be asked for consent where required.
How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as Canadian tax law requires (generally six years). Account information is kept until you ask us to delete your account. Messages to us are kept for as long as needed to answer them and handle any follow-up.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to marketing at any time. You can also ask us to delete your account; we will remove what we are not legally required to keep. Email burnmood@burnmood.com and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection, access to customer data is limited to the people who need it, and card details never reach our systems.
Children
The shop is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
